The social networking platforms are constantly evolving to drag in a lot of users. Any platform would be widely used by people only when they feel they could gain some benefit out of it. Though it is claimed that social networking sites provide a better access for business people to make profits, there are very few proofs to vouch. But Instagram has come up with an excellent feature called Instagram shopping feed, that turns users into customers. This is one of the best features that incorporate both Instagram and Facebook.
Let’s have a look at how Instagram shopping feed looks like:
The main characteristic of the feature is providing multiple links to the same picture or post. Instagram earlier had released a swipe up option in Instagram stories, to redirect users to a blog or website or a landing page. This enhanced the number of blog visits for bloggers. The Instagram Shopping Feed aims to increase the visits and conversions of the e-commerce sites.
This new feature is a blessing in disguise for all the new entrepreneurs in space. Earlier, when people needed to know the price of any item, they had to comment on the comments section. The customers would be forced to read the caption. This actually doesn’t provide an excellent interface. The customers sometimes had to send a personal message to the page owner and wait for a reply. Though businesses flourished with the already built-in features of Instagram, there was always a need for an option that would generate leads. The Shoppable Instagram feeds is the best feature for generating customer leads using Instagram.
A clear description of this feature and also a guide on how to implement Instagram shopping feed is provided below. This is definitely useful for all the budding entrepreneurs and small-time business people.

Step 1: Adding shop to FB page
Open your Facebook Page.
The Facebook shop feature has to be set up.
The products available in the Facebook shop can only be purchased. Only these products shall be provided with a link via Instagram. So, add as many as products you want to and there is no limit.
Check for the Shop tab on your Facebook Page.
If you are not able to find one, click on the add button right beneath your cover photo.
- Select the Shop Now option.
- Once you click the shop now option, you will be redirected to another page.
- Select the shop on your page option in that respective page. Click finish once done.
These actions redirect you to the main Facebook Page. Now you would be able to see a Shop Tab on the left-hand sidebar of the page.
Click on the Shop Tab and choose the set-up shop option.
Three simple instructions to follow and voila, you have set up the shop.
While setting up the shop, the page would ask for the payment option.
If you have an e-commerce site, then the customers can pay via the payment gateway of the site. Click on the “Check out on another website” option.
If you do not have a website, then you can choose the check out on Facebook option. At present, this option is only open to the users of United States of America.
This feature would prove worthy to those who own an e-commerce site. Never worry about the charges you might encounter as you will be able to make a lot of profits using this feature.
If you do not know to integrate your e-commerce site to Facebook, google for it. The instructions are very simple to follow.
Step 2: Connecting Instagram and Facebook account
Once you have installed the shop feature to your Facebook account, then you should connect the Instagram and Facebook account. Follow the below steps to connect Instagram with Facebook.
- Click on the settings option on the top right of your FB page. Choose Instagram and log in.
- Open the Instagram business profile. Open the settings.
- Once you open the Settings, you can see the Linked accounts option.
- On clicking the linked accounts, you can use the share to feature. Make sure to add your Facebook page and not your profile.
This feature might show a pending signal. Don’t get perplexed. You will be authenticated within a few days. The time incurred is to instil the product tagging feature.
Step 3: Enable the Shoppable Instagram Feeds
The indication that your shop has been approved is when you get to see this on top of your Instagram page.
- Click on the ‘Get Started’ button and follow these options to link the products in the Facebook shop to your Instagram account.
- Click on Products and select the Facebook shop created.
- Tap ‘Done’.
If you are unable to see the ‘get started’ tab, then scroll down through the Settings tab.
Select Shopping to see the ‘get started’ option,
P.S If you are not able to see the Shopping option, it means that your account has not been approved yet.
By this above steps, you have integrated the products on your Facebook page to the pictures you post on your Instagram page. A product catalogue is thus created. Now, since the functionality of setting up an Instagram Shopping Feed is complete you have to start tagging the products in your posts. Below are the steps on how to go about with tagging products in the Instagram feed.
Step 4: Start tagging products on your Instagram Feed
- Upload the picture that carries the image of your product.
- Once you upload, it would ask you for the tag products option.
Click on it and tap on the picture where you want the tag to appear. Once you tap, you can see the drop down of your product catalogue. You can choose the appropriate product from the list.
Once tagging is done, click on done and review the post.
That’s it!! This is one feature that I really loved and I am pretty sure this will help online stores to increase their sales.
When people click on the tag, they would be directed to your Facebook page where they can find a small description of the product. The payment processes will be handled by the Facebook page.
The normal post would differ from the shoppable post by the small shop icon that appears on the bottom left of the image. It is shown below. When tapped on that product, you can get the price of that particular one. If you tap on a commonplace, then you can get the prices of all products.
When you follow these four steps one by one, you can easily set up your product catalogue.
This is one of the best methods to provide product details to the customers.
However, just implementing this feature won’t guarantee you sales. You should not forget the basic of social media. if you want to create more sales, then you should post quality images, write engaging and converting content, with the use of catchy captions, throw discounts, sales etc.,
This feature eliminates the usage of a Product Catalog and serves as a great medium to market your products. Apart from helping with marketing, it also helps you to connect better to your e-commerce site.
This feature has received widespread reception in the countries of its inception. The feature will soon be available to the other countries as well.
Use the Instagram shopping feed feature to increase the revenue of your business.
